Mumbai, October 26: Indian stock markets could witness heightened volatility this week as investors track the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision, rising crude oil prices, corporate earnings and the upcoming Jio Platforms listing.
Geopolitical tensions in West Asia and domestic economic data are also expected to influence market sentiment.
US Fed Decision In Focus
The US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy meeting on October 27-28 will be a major trigger for global markets.
The interest rate decision is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.
Ajit Mishra, Senior Vice President of Research at Religare Broking, said investors will closely monitor the Fed’s policy statement and future interest rate guidance.
Markets currently expect limited chances of a rate change.
A hawkish stance could strengthen the US dollar and bond yields, putting pressure on foreign investments in emerging markets.
However, a balanced approach could support a market recovery.
Crude Oil Prices Raise Concerns
Rising crude oil prices amid West Asia tensions remain another major concern for Indian equities.
Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, said elevated oil prices could increase India’s import bill and inflationary pressures.
Higher energy costs could also weaken the rupee and affect corporate profitability.
Q2 Results And Economic Data
Several major companies will announce quarterly earnings this week, including TVS Motor, Asian Paints, Trent, Sun Pharma, Bharat Electronics, Indian Oil, Bank of Baroda and GAIL India.
Investors will assess their financial performance for signs of earnings growth.
India’s September industrial production and manufacturing output data, scheduled for October 28, will provide further insights into domestic economic activity.
Jio Platforms Listing In Spotlight
Jio Platforms is scheduled to make its stock market debut on October 28.
The listing is expected to attract significant investor attention following the company’s major initial public offering.
Analysts expect global cues, crude oil movements, corporate earnings and IPO-related developments to drive market direction throughout the week.
