Mumbai, October 20: Indian stock markets will remain closed on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, on account of Dussehra. Trading activities on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain suspended for the entire day.
The holiday comes after a sharp fall in benchmark indices during Monday’s trading session.
NSE, BSE Trading Suspended Today
According to the stock exchange holiday calendar, trading in equities, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, interest rate derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) will remain closed on Tuesday.
Normal trading on both exchanges will resume on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Investors will not be able to buy or sell shares through the regular equity market during the holiday.
MCX To Open For Evening Session
Unlike the equity markets, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will operate for a limited period on Dussehra.
The morning trading session, from 9 am to 5 pm, will remain suspended. However, trading will resume at 5 pm and continue until 11:30 pm or 11:55 pm, depending on the contract.
Investors can trade commodities such as gold, silver, crude oil and base metals during the evening session.
Meanwhile, the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for both sessions.
Upcoming Stock Market Holidays In 2026
After Dussehra, three regular stock market holidays remain in 2026.
Markets will remain closed on November 10 for Diwali-Balipratipada, November 24 for Guru Nanak Jayanti and December 25 for Christmas.
Additionally, exchanges have scheduled a special Muhurat Trading session on November 8 to mark Diwali Laxmi Pujan. The timings will be announced separately.
Sensex, Nifty End Previous Session Lower
