State Bank of India (SBI) will revise cash withdrawal charges for customers holding Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) Accounts from October 1, 2026.
Under the revised charges, customers will continue to get four free cash withdrawals every month through the branch channel. After the free limit is exhausted, each additional withdrawal will cost ₹15 plus applicable GST.
Which SBI Accounts Are Covered?
The revised charges will apply specifically to the Basic Savings Deposit Account operated through the branch channel under Product Code 1011-1701.
Customers who make frequent cash withdrawals from bank branches should therefore keep track of the number of transactions made during a month.
For example, if a BSBD account holder makes six cash withdrawals at a branch in one month, the first four will remain free. The fifth and sixth transactions will each attract a charge of ₹15 plus GST.
The revised charges will become applicable from October 1, 2026.
What Is A Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account?
A Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account is designed to provide essential banking facilities without requiring customers to maintain a minimum balance.
Such accounts offer basic services, including depositing and withdrawing money. However, their features and transaction limits can differ from those offered with regular savings accounts.
Customers should check SBI’s applicable terms and latest service-charge schedule to understand the facilities and transaction limits available under their specific account.
Who Will Be Affected?
The change will mainly affect BSBD customers who withdraw cash from SBI branches more than four times in a month.
Customers making up to four branch cash withdrawals every month will not have to pay the revised transaction charge.
Those who regularly need cash can plan their branch withdrawals to remain within the four-free-transaction limit and avoid additional charges.
The country’s largest lender will implement the revised fee structure from October 1.
