Mumbai: Reliance Retail plans to aggressively expand its online business during FY26 while maintaining a strong focus on profitability. The company will strengthen its quick-commerce arm JioMart, add more dark stores, and improve its omnichannel network to serve customers faster and more efficiently.
The roadmap was shared by Reliance Retail Chief Financial Officer Dinesh Taluja during the company’s earnings call.
Focus on Profitable Growth
Taluja said the company is not chasing growth at any cost. Instead, it will invest only in markets where the business can generate healthy returns. If a market does not meet its profitability targets, the company will reduce investments there.
He added that Reliance Retail aims to build a clear path towards positive unit economics in every market while funding expansion through its existing profits.
Four Key Areas of Focus
The company has identified four major priorities for FY26. These include improving customer engagement through higher repeat purchases and better shopping experiences, increasing basket size and sales of its own brands, strengthening operational efficiency, and maintaining strict financial discipline.
Reliance Retail will closely track factors such as order density at dark stores, fulfilment costs, inventory management, contribution margins and working capital to improve overall business performance.
Three-Year Growth Roadmap
The retailer also shared its longer-term vision. Over the next three years, Reliance Retail plans to double its operating EBITDA by improving product mix, increasing marketplace income and expanding the contribution of its private labels.
According to Taluja, better order density, faster deliveries, improved productivity and higher customer retention are expected to boost cash generation and returns on capital.
Strong JioMart Network
Reliance Retail currently operates one of India’s largest quick-commerce businesses through JioMart. The platform uses a hybrid model with more than 3,100 physical stores and over 600 dark stores.
Its network serves customers across 1,200 cities and covers more than 5,100 pincodes, giving the company a strong base to accelerate online growth while keeping operations efficient and profitable.
