Dalal Street Eyes RBI Verdict, Earnings And Oil Prices After Sharp Market Recovery

Traders monitor stock market screens as investors await RBI monetary policy, Q1 earnings, crude oil prices and global market cues.

Mumbai: Indian stock markets head into a crucial trading week with investors looking beyond last week’s rally and focusing on fresh triggers that could decide whether the recovery has further room to run.

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) monetary policy decision, June quarter earnings, crude oil prices, foreign investor activity and global geopolitical developments are expected to dominate market sentiment over the coming days.

RBI Decision Takes Centre Stage

The biggest domestic event will be the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which begins on August 3. The policy outcome and Governor’s commentary on August 5 will be closely watched for signals on inflation, economic growth, liquidity and the future interest rate outlook.

Any indication on the central bank’s policy stance could influence banking, financial and rate-sensitive stocks.

Earnings To Test Market Strength

Corporate earnings will also remain a key driver as several large companies are set to announce their Q1 FY27 results.

While robust earnings from several companies helped markets recover last week, investors will now assess whether the broader earnings season continues to support current market valuations. Management commentary on demand, margins and business outlook will also be in focus.

Oil And Global Risks Remain Key

Global developments continue to pose risks despite improving investor sentiment.

Tensions in the Middle East remain elevated after the United States warned of possible additional military action against Iran while attempting to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Crude oil prices have turned volatile amid concerns over supply disruptions, making energy prices another important factor for domestic markets. Higher oil prices could increase inflationary pressures and weigh on corporate profitability.

Technical Levels In Focus

Indian equities staged a strong comeback last week, with the Nifty rising 2.59% to close at 24,383.60 and the Sensex gaining 2.68% to finish at 78,094.64.

Market experts believe the Nifty needs a sustained move above the 24,500-24,600 zone to extend gains towards 25,200. On the downside, immediate support is seen near 24,100, while the broader support zone remains between 23,600 and 23,800.
