New Delhi: Delhi residents face another increase in fuel costs as the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has been raised by Rs 3.89 per kg.
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has announced the latest revision, which comes into effect from 6 am on Saturday, August 29.
CNG Now Costs Rs 86.98 Per Kg
Following the hike, CNG in Delhi will cost Rs 86.98 per kg, compared with the earlier price of Rs 83.09 per kg.
The latest increase of Rs 3.89 per kg adds to a series of CNG price revisions witnessed in the national capital in recent months.
The higher rate is expected to increase running costs for motorists who depend on CNG as a relatively economical alternative to petrol and diesel.
Multiple Price Hikes In May
CNG prices had already been increased several times in May.
The price was raised by Rs 2 per kg on May 15, followed by another Re 1 increase on May 17.
Another Re 1 per kg was added on May 23. CNG became costlier by a further Rs 2 per kg on May 26.
These successive revisions had already increased fuel expenses for CNG vehicle owners before the latest hike.

Cab And Auto Drivers May Feel The Heat
The latest increase could particularly affect commercial vehicle operators, including auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers, whose daily earnings are closely linked to fuel expenses.
Cab operators could also face higher operating costs as the price of CNG rises further.
For drivers covering long distances every day, even a relatively small increase in the per-kilogram price can significantly raise monthly fuel expenditure.
Commuters Could Face Higher Fares
Public transport and app-based cab services could also feel the impact if operators seek to recover increased fuel costs.
Higher operating expenses may eventually translate into increased fares for passengers, although any fare revision would depend on operators and applicable regulatory mechanisms.
The latest CNG price hike adds to household transport expenses at a time when consumers are closely watching changes in fuel and other essential costs.
