Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh core group held a meeting lasting more than two hours in Lucknow to discuss preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections and upcoming organisational programmes.
The meeting, held at the BJP’s state headquarters on Friday evening, brought together senior national and state leaders.
Yogi Adityanath, Senior Leaders Attend
Those present included BJP national general secretary organisation B L Santhosh, Uttar Pradesh in-charge Vinod Tawde and co-in-charge Jagdish Patel.
State BJP president and Union minister Pankaj Chaudhary, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak also attended.
Chaudhary said detailed discussions were held on election preparations and the Seva Sankalp and Sushasan campaigns beginning September 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
2027 Poll Strategy Discussed
The leaders reviewed how preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections were progressing and discussed the direction the party should take over the coming months.
Chaudhary, who recently took charge as state BJP president, said discussions were also held on the state working committee. Its meeting is expected to be organised soon.
The meeting gained significance because of Santhosh’s presence in Lucknow and Tawde’s second visit to the state capital within a week.
Welfare Schemes In Focus
Party sources said discussions covered ways to communicate the benefits of welfare schemes implemented by the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government.
The concerns and requirements of women and young people, including Gen Z, were also discussed, along with possible initiatives targeting these groups.
Several BJP office-bearers and workers reached the state headquarters ahead of the meeting.
Responding to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s claims that his party would form the next government, Chaudhary dismissed the prediction.
Earlier, BJP spokesperson Dinesh Pratap Singh said the party remained organisation and cadre-based and continued its public outreach irrespective of elections.
He said meetings involving senior leadership help strengthen organisational preparations and provide momentum ahead of electoral contests.
