Mumbai: Amazon Retail India, which operates Amazon Now and Amazon Fresh, reported a sharp widening of its net loss in FY26 even as sales grew nearly 50%, according to regulatory filing data shared by market intelligence firm Tofler.
The company’s net loss increased to ₹1,158.3 crore in the financial year ended March 2026, compared with ₹394.2 crore in FY25.
Costs Rise Sharply
The widening loss came amid a steep increase in the cost of goods, which climbed 64% to ₹2,887.9 crore during FY26.
The cost of goods accounted for nearly 94% of the company’s revenue, putting pressure on its financial performance during the year.
According to the filing data, the company’s operating margin also changed significantly during the period.
Tofler said Amazon Retail India reported revenue of ₹3,080 crore for FY26, representing an increase of about 49% over the previous financial year.
It said the ₹1,158 crore net loss represented a 194% increase compared with FY25.
Sales Jump 49%
Amazon Retail’s total sales increased 49.46% to ₹3,065.1 crore during FY26, compared with ₹2,050.8 crore in the previous fiscal year.

The growth came as the company expanded its presence in India’s fast-growing quick-commerce segment.
Amazon Now Expands
During FY26, Amazon Retail scaled up Amazon Now, its quick-commerce operation, while also investing in expanding its network of farmer partners for Amazon Fresh.
Amazon Now expanded its operational footprint to 60 cities during FY26 from 15 cities in FY25, marking a fourfold increase in city coverage.
The company also claimed that the number of farmer partners associated with Amazon Fresh doubled during FY26 compared with the preceding financial year.
The expansion indicates Amazon Retail continued investing in quick delivery and fresh grocery operations despite the substantial increase in losses during the financial year.
