Festive Offers On Cars, Jewellery & Gadgets, Check These Hidden Costs Before Buying

Festive shopping offers on cars, jewellery and electronics highlighting EMI payments, financing costs and household budgeting.

Mumbai, 27 October: Festive discounts and easy financing options may attract buyers planning expensive purchases, but experts advise consumers to look beyond attractive prices and low monthly instalments.

Whether buying a car, jewellery or household appliances, understanding the total cost, loan conditions and repayment capacity is essential to avoid financial pressure later.

Compare Loan Rates And Hidden Charges

Festive financing schemes often promise lower interest rates, reduced processing fees and affordable EMIs. However, buyers should compare annual interest rates, loan tenure and total repayment amounts before finalising purchases.

A smaller EMI may appear attractive, but extending the repayment period can significantly increase overall interest costs.

Used-car platform Spinny recently introduced festive financing offers through lending partners, with interest rates starting at 10.5 per cent, subject to borrower eligibility.

Luxury Car Demand Remains Strong

Spinny reported that BMW accounted for 33 per cent of luxury car deliveries within its Spinny Max segment on October 11.

The company also recorded 21 per cent year-on-year growth in luxury deliveries during the first half of 2026, while average selling prices increased 25 per cent.

However, buyers should consider insurance, fuel, servicing and maintenance expenses alongside monthly loan repayments.

Check Monthly Budget Before Buying

Financial experts recommend evaluating existing commitments, including rent, household expenses, ongoing loans and investments, before taking on additional EMIs.

Vikrant Mudaliar, co-founder of Cruise Money, advises consumers to examine their assets, liabilities and financial obligations over the next three months before making festive purchases.

This assessment can help households determine whether additional borrowing is manageable.

Use Festive Bonuses Carefully

Festive bonuses can support planned purchases, but spending the entire amount immediately may affect financial stability.

Mudaliar suggests allocating bonuses across celebrations, financial goals and repayment of high-interest debt.

Maintaining emergency savings and avoiding dependence on uncertain future income are equally important.

Avoid Unnecessary Purchases

Experts caution that discounts should not become the primary reason for buying expensive products.

Consumers should compare prices, evaluate actual requirements and review financing conditions carefully.

A festive deal offers genuine value only when the purchase remains affordable after promotional benefits end.
