Nashik: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi arrived in Nashik on Monday to attend the concluding session of a training programme for the party’s district presidents, stepping up his political outreach in Maharashtra after a recent visit to Pune.
Senior Maharashtra Congress leaders welcomed Gandhi at the airport. He is scheduled to hold discussions with district Congress presidents and senior leaders from across the state during his Nashik visit.
Congress focuses on grassroots organisation
The training programme has been organised under the Congress party’s ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’, which is aimed at strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.
The Nashik camp focused on preparing district presidents to strengthen the party network in their respective regions and connect the Congress ideology and political message with people.
The training also focused on taking issues raised by the Congress against the central and Maharashtra governments more effectively to the public.
Gandhi is expected to interact with the district presidents at the concluding session and provide guidance on the party’s organisational strategy for the coming months.
Gandhi to meet tribal delegations
During his visit, Gandhi is also scheduled to address Congress leaders and workers attending the programme.

He will separately meet delegations representing tribal organisations and discuss issues concerning tribal communities. After completing his engagements in Nashik, Gandhi is expected to leave for Delhi in the evening.
Nagpur programme on the cards
Gandhi’s Maharashtra outreach comes after his recent interaction with students in Pune. The Congress is also reportedly preparing for another ‘Students’ Voice’ programme in Nagpur.
His recent choice of brightly coloured shirts has also attracted attention. Gandhi was seen wearing pink and yellow shirts during his Pune engagements, while he arrived in Nashik wearing a neon green shirt.
The Nashik visit assumes significance as the Congress pushes ahead with efforts to strengthen its district-level organisation and expand its political outreach across Maharashtra.
