Mumbai: Canara Bank has revised its ATM transaction rules from September 1, 2026, reducing the number of free transactions available to savings account customers and increasing charges for certain transactions beyond the free limit.
Customers will now get five free ATM transactions per month, down from six earlier. The limit covers both financial and non financial transactions.
Senior Citizens Keep Higher Limit
There is no change for senior citizens, who will continue to receive eight free ATM transactions every month.
Once the free limit is exhausted, service charges will apply to eligible transactions carried out at Canara Bank ATMs and cash recyclers. Cash deposit transactions will remain outside the scope of these charges.
Cash Withdrawal Charge Increased
Customers withdrawing cash after exhausting their free transaction limit will now pay Rs 23 per transaction at Canara Bank ATMs, compared with Rs 20 earlier. GST will be charged additionally.
The revised fee also covers ATM cash withdrawals made using UPI.
Failed Transactions Get Costlier
Customers will also face a higher charge if an ATM transaction fails because their account does not have sufficient funds.
After the free transaction limit is exhausted, the charge for such failed transactions has been increased to Rs 23 from Rs 17, excluding GST.
The charge will apply to eligible failed transactions conducted at Canara Bank ATMs as well as ATMs operated by other banks.

Green PIN Charge Reduced
While some ATM charges have increased, Canara Bank has sharply reduced the fee for regenerating a Green PIN after the free transaction limit is exhausted.
The charge has been cut to Rs 5 from Rs 23.
The revised Green PIN fee applies across several card variants, including Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select and World cards.
Customers should therefore keep track of their monthly ATM usage as exceeding the free limit could result in additional transaction costs.
